WHAT IS A SURPLUS REFUND?
If a property you had interest in is foreclosed, then unless the final judgment is paid in full, the property will be sold at foreclosure auction. If the property sells at auction for more than the amount of the final judgment, then the additional funds are “Surplus Funds.”
Surplus refunds are issued by the court, and there is a detailed and specific procedure that must be precisely followed with the court to claim the funds.
